奧巴馬訪問曼德拉曾經被監禁的羅本島。

美國總統奧巴馬訪問前南非總統曼德拉曾經被監禁多年的羅本島，表示他深深感覺到自己的渺小。
奧巴馬和家人參觀了當年島上囚犯被迫工作的採石場，以及曼德拉被囚禁的小牢房。
奧巴馬在訪客留言簿上寫道，羅本島囚犯的故事提醒人們沒有任何枷鎖或牢房能限制人性和精神的力量。
晚些時候奧巴馬將在開普敦大學發表演講，預料他將會宣佈一筆高達70億美元改善非洲能源供應的投資計劃。
仍未脫離危險
前南非總統曼德拉目前仍然因病住院中，尚未脫離危險。
曼德拉因為對抗種族隔離政策而被關在羅本島長達18年之久，期間罹患了結核病，而他長期的肺部問題也可能起因於此。
在南非訪問的奧巴馬並沒有親自探望曼德拉，但他和曼德拉的家人私下見過面。
奧巴馬星期五離開塞內加爾抵達南非開始訪問，下周一他將繼續前往坦桑尼亞訪問。
