2014年2月，美国科罗拉多州女子Charisa Argys将女儿与家猫的合照上传到当地保护动物协会的"脸谱"主页上，德国著名记者、动物权利保护家西尔维娅(Silvia Wadhwa)对此进行评论后，并链接到2013年Argys上传过的美洲狮合照。

2013年2月，Argys在网上上传了一张她与一只已被自己猎杀、重达175磅(约79公斤)的雄性美洲狮合照，并附上了个人地址与电话号码后。时隔一年之后，该照片随即被转发到动物权利组织和反猎杀论坛，如国际动物救援基金会全球行动，无数的抨击和矛头直指Argys。

事实上，Argys自3岁起便开始打猎，其中猎杀美洲狮是她最为擅长的，在那个时代也并非违法。Argys也称，她将会坚持打猎。
