中斷30年 美與新西蘭恢復聯合軍演

新西蘭國防部長喬納森·科爾曼與美國國防部長哈格爾

美國和新西蘭國防部表示，在中斷近30年後，兩國決定恢復聯合軍事演習。
美聯社報道稱，美新兩國軍事關係改善是隨著中國實力不斷上升，美國重返太平洋地區策略的一部分。
美新兩國國防部表示，兩國計劃在維持和平、軍事訓練、人道救援和緊急反應等方面展開合作。
這一決定是在新西蘭國防部長喬納森·科爾曼訪問美國五角大樓與美國國防部長哈格爾會談後宣佈的。
新西蘭將派遣一艘戰艦參加在亞丁灣的國際打擊海盜任務，另外還將參加明年在夏威夷附近舉行的環太平洋演習。
該演習是目前世界上最大的海上軍事演習，目前每兩年舉行一次，由美國太平洋司令部指揮整個演習。
中國也應邀在2014年第一次參加環太平洋演習。
