布拉德·斯泰隆为他的佳能60D相机和10-20毫米镜头加了一个铝制外壳，用以防水。冲浪的时候，相机及防水外壳显得十分沉重，因此他决定穿上脚蹼游到更外面一点的地方。

39岁的摄影师布拉德·斯泰隆拥有一间打印店和一家画廊，他说："大部分海浪的高度为3到4英尺（约合0.9米到1.2米），有时会有6到8英尺高。拍摄这些图片的时候，我会看着海浪朝我涌来，你几乎可以预测海浪在什么时候、什么地点破碎。"

"一旦我觉得海浪足够好，适合进行拍摄，我会做好准备，掐好海浪即将破碎的时间，"布拉德·斯泰隆解释道，"在短短的1到2秒内我就会得到海浪经过的镜头，但你必须把握好时间。"
